Disaster Relief
When a natural disaster strikes, the focus of our nation is riveted on providing help and assistance to those impacted. The HALO Foundation of Akron, ( Hope Always Lives On) respects the first responders and major relief agencies immediately on the scene. Our effort focuses on finding the segments of communities who still need significant aid several months later. We do this by working with our student leaders from over 25 area school, to collect and purchase needed materials; to help those impacted rebuild their lives.
– We challenge schools through their student Leaders to collect the items needed after having confirmed the destination and defining a method of eligibility and distribution.
-We negotiate with benevolent suppliers who will both allow students to purchase items wholesale and/or match their donation in product
– We coordinate transportation of all items, collected and purchased to a designated location.
– On “Delivery Day” some of our Student Leaders may be transported to the area to work with local students and the military to receive and distribute the goods.
Halo Bowl
The Halo Bowl is an annual flag football tournament dedicated exclusively to the youth, bringing together aspiring athletes from our community for a day of fun and competition. Organized by the Halo Foundation, this event fosters teamwork and sportsmanship while providing a platform for young players to showcase their skills on the field. Each year, families gather to support their favorite teams, creating an energetic atmosphere filled with cheers and camaraderie.
Leadership, Education, And Development Retreat
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
About Us
LEADR stands for Leadership, Education, And Development Retreat. This 3 or 4 day retreat is designed to educate high school and middle school students from the Akron area on the importance of being a leader in their communities and also to inform them of our historical initiative, “93 Cents for Flight 93”. This is a youth-based educational initiative and outreach program based around the inspiring messages of bravery, leadership, and sacrifice personified by the passengers and crew members of Flight 93.
LEADR
At the retreat, the participating high schoolers and middle schoolers are educated on the personality and gifts that each brings to the table. These natural traits and talents are developed through team-building exercises and leadership training, and then they are put into action through business plans created to impact the community.
